Real Madrid Signs Deal with Blockchain Collectibles Platform

Real Madrid is one of the most powerful football clubs in the entire world, having won the UEFA Champions League a record-breaking 13 times. In its quest to take over the digital realm, Los Blancos has teamed up with Fantastec SWAP to allow unique trading cards to be created, distributed, and played with on a blockchain. Each card will be unique and some will even have players autographs. Ultimate fans and collectors can then opt to swap cards with other collectors to complete their collection.

Fantastec SWAP has already secured the rights to Arsenal’s players, as well as Borussia Dortmund’s squad. Real Madrid will give app users and fans a new bunch of cards to begin collecting and trading – how exciting!

Blockchain Coming to Football

The footballing world is looking to get its feet wet in the blockchain domain and use this new technology wherever possible. However – in football – the potential uses for blockchain are somewhat limited to fan interaction, leading a number of top clubs to create their own fan tokens. Juventus and Paris Saint-German are two major teams that have recently decided to launch their own fan tokens, allowing fans to get closer to the action than ever before.

Tokens will allow fans to vote on big club decisions, such as next season’s kit, music to be played in the stadium on match day, and who should be picked for charity day games. This new concept is allowing fans to become part of the club and make decisions that they were previously kept away from.

Crypto Ads Appearing in England

There’s no doubt that the English Premier League is one of the most watched football leagues in the whole world – with fans tuning in from every corner of the globe. To take full advantage of this unique audience, several crypto exchanges have inked deals with England’s top teams to display ads on match days. Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Southampton, Leicester City, Crystal Palace, Cardiff City, and Brighton & Hove Albion kicked off the proceedings by signing a deal with eToro – an agreement that was allegedly paid in Bitcoin. OKEx even signed a deal that saw it gain exposure during televised Arsenal and Liverpool matches.

Cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology is seeping in through every possible pore into the football world, and some clubs are taking it further than others. Libereum bought Elche CF for $4.9 million back in December 2018 – the first crypto project to buy a football club. If that doesn’t scream crypto loves football, then we don’t know what does.

Keep an eye out for your favorite players on the Fantastec SWAP blockchain, as we’re sure it’s going to be a smash hit with hardcore Real Madrid fans!
