CheapAir.com Teams up with Bitcoin.com to Deploy BCH Acceptance

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Traveling around the globe using cryptocurrencies is becoming more common thanks to the plethora of travel agents now accepting digital currencies. Back in 2013, CheapAir.com became the first US-based online travel agency to accept Bitcoin for flight and hotel bookings, and now it’s teaming up with Bitcoin.com for the next leg of its journey.

CheapAir.com has teamed up with Bitcoin.com and added its booking engine to the Bitcoin.com app. In addition, CheapAir.com now accepts Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dash on top of Bitcoin.

Protecting Travelers Pockets

The Bitcoin.com app is very popular within the Bitcoin Cash community and it has a plethora of users. These users will now be able to book their flights from directly within the app and pay using Bitcoin Cash. This is a huge moment for Bitcoin Cash, as it means their users will be protected by CheapAir.com’s Price Drop Payback scheme. If the price of a flight drops after purchase, then CheapAir.com will give the passenger up to $100 in travel credit – a pretty unique perk.

Crypto Travel is Taking Off

While CheapAir.com might have been the first travel agent in the US to accept Bitcoin for flights and hotels, other companies around the world have decided to join the trend. In early July, TravelbyBit launched its brand new website application that allows customers to pay for their flights and accommodation using Bitcoin, Litecoin, and BNB. Additionally, Corporate Traveller integrated the BitPay payment gateway and Destenia Travel also began accepting crypto. Over the past 12 months, more and more online travel agents have begun to accept crypto, which is only a good thing for the cause of widespread adoption.

Are Airport Taxes Being Used for Evil?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Venezuela is in a whole heap of trouble and its economy is spiraling into uncharted territories of hyperinflation. In a bid to keep the cash flowing, Nicolas Maduro – President of Venezuela – has allegedly been converting airport taxes into Bitcoin and then into USD on various exchanges. This could be Venezuela’s last lifeline of USD, so if you’re travelling to Venezuela by air, you could very well be giving Maduro the support he definitely doesn’t deserve.

If you’re a user of the Bitcoin.com app, you can access the CheapAir.com booking engine right away. Where will you be booking your first flight to when you pay in Bitcoin Cash? Let us know in the comments below!
